NLP Pattern Interrupt

by admin on January 23, 2012

This is a demonstration of how to interrupt a problem state to the point of frustration and then some. Humour and distraction are used with an essentially very well established rapport. The model being to totally interrupt and disrupt the problem state with the intention of creating overriding states such that the presenting problem no longer holds together in the same way. This is one part of a therapeutic intervention. Recorded at Clinical Hypnotherapy Diploma Training in Newcastle upon Tyne with Nigel Hetherington. www.communicatingexcellence.com

I think it’s a bad example of a pattern interrupt. The guy who was willing to share an unresolved problem was actually a bit ridiculed. Not nice.

@Maartenn100 You are exactly right in thinking that. The fact that you noticed the rapport vanish between them means you are already we’ll versed in the theories of NLP. In a situational or clinical setting pattern interrupt are usually only used once or twice to change a line of thought.

this is…. such a bad way of interupting patterns because he’s isn’t giving his (client) that more than goood feeling inside..he’s making him feel more and more annoyed.
infact, one of the more interesting ways to interupt and fill that void with those enchanting good feelings is to start talking and when you say.. ” I was wondering the other day……………………………..” and after a long pause look at the person you’ve interrupted and give that brilliant warm smile :)

i personaly think that everybody has some sort of OCD, weather it is just repeating routines or having to do things like touch certain things with certain parts of your body, or having to wash your hands every 20 minuites in feat of germs… i think that it gives comfort and organisation to some but stress and anger to others, nobody else can control or reverse it, it is you! it is your mind and your emotions and you cant fight it, if you try to ignore it it will play on your mind until you do..

tprdbff January 23, 2012 at 5:58 pm

u dont have OCD so u cannot POSSIBLY understand… here u r saying u cant help it??? because u dont have OCD!!!!!

My 12 year old granddaughter has Down Syndrome, and along with that some obsessive compulsive issues. I don’t think she could really grasp my trying to take her through some tapping herself. Do you think I could achieve any success doing it to her? Even though she may not understand what I’m trying to do? Thanks for any help!
